FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Public Open House for the Comprehensive City Plan Update

January 3, 2017

A Public Open House on the Comprehensive City Plan Update will be held on January 9, 2017 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Center at 200 S. Holden Street.  This meeting is an open house format with multiple stations to review and comment on the final draft of the Comprehensive City Plan Update prior to it being presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council for adoption. Community members are welcome to attend anytime during the Open House, as there will be no formal presentation.

The City of Warrensburg’s current Comprehensive City Plan was adopted in 2007. The City has hired Confluence, a professional consulting firm focused on planning and landscape architecture, to develop a Comprehensive City Plan Update that will act as a supplement to the existing 2007 Comprehensive City Plan. The Comprehensive City Plan Update will be used in conjunction with other plans and studies as the foundation for decisions on land use, development, and infrastructure investment.  It will provide a guide for development over the next 20 years and serve as the basis for updating zoning and subdivision regulations.

A kick-off meeting for the project took place on May 2, 2016 and a public workshop took place on June 9, 2016. The Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council have had two joint meetings to discuss the Update on July 20 and December 12, 2016.
