Volunteer

The Warrensburg Animal Shelter accepts volunteers that are 18 years of age or older. The first step in the process is to fill out the volunteer application that can be found at our physical location. Once the application has been turned in, shelter staff can begin scheduling you for volunteer hours.

Volunteers need to note that:

* Volunteers can be at the shelter from 8am until closing Tuesday – Saturday.

* All hours must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance with the shelter staff.

* All volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes and, preferably, long pants. These clothes need to be clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty!

* For the first 5 hours of volunteer, we do ask that you do basic cleaning chores such as dishes, or helping us clean the kennels. This is just so we can get an idea of how you interact with the animals. After this 5 hours have been completed, volunteers can begin working with the animals at the staffs’ discretion.

Volunteer Groups

Special accommodations can be made for large volunteer groups. All large volunteer group events will take place on Saturdays and need to be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Further inquiries about volunteer groups can be made at 660-747-7156.

Court-ordered Community Service Information

The Warrensburg Animal Shelter accepts community service workers that are 18 years of age or older.
