City Board and Commission Vacancies

Warrensburg, MO (November 16, 2016) – The Warrensburg City Council is seeking qualified individuals to apply to serve on City boards and commissions with existing vacancies. Interested persons should be willing to volunteer their personal time and skills, to ensure the City functions at the highest level of standards provided within the Code of Ordinances. Your services will significantly impact City officials and the community of Warrensburg.

Current openings are listed below:

Cycling and Pedestrian Task Force (1 Vacancy)

This group evaluates the current practices concerning cyclists and pedestrians, and appeals to the safety of these individuals within the City and its immediate surroundings. They develop plans for improving pedestrian and cycling transportation that address the guidelines detailed in Resolution No. 2032. The Cycling and Pedestrian Task Force meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 3pm.

Planning and Zoning Commission (1 Vacancy)

The ideal candidate should be qualified by knowledge and/or experience to act in matters pertaining to development and continuing administration of the comprehensive plan, and planning and zoning in general. The Planning & Zoning Commission meets the first Monday of each month at the time most convenient for the commission.

Parks and Recreation Board (1 Vacancy)

This board oversees the operations of the Parks & Recreation Department. The Parks & Recreation board meets the last Wednesday of each month at the time most convenient for the board.

Warrensburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (WCVB) (3 Seats Available)

This board was formed to promote tourism in Warrensburg. This board shall meet at least once per month for at least ten monthly meetings per year.

Building Code of Appeals (2 Vacancies)

This board only meets as needed when any person is unsatisfied by a decision of the Board of Appeals.

Traffic Commission (1 Vacancy)

Traffic Commissioners coordinate traffic activities and receive complaints regarding traffic matters. This commission makes recommendations to the City Council and staff regarding traffic conditions and the administration and enforcement of traffic regulations. This commission meets the third Wednesday of the month at the time most convenient for the commission.

Diversity and Inclusion Task Force (5 Vacancies)

The City Council may establish a task force to study on an issue or address a community concern. The Diversity and Inclusion Task Force shall examine the community and provide feedback that will help foster mutual understanding and respect among all members of the City. The Task Force will work through education and outreach to discourage prejudice and discrimination against any person, group, or any other status protected by law on account of race, creed, color; religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, or disability. For complaints of discrimination in housing, employment, and places of public accommodations based on race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, disability, age (in employment only), and familial status (in housing only), the Task Force shall accept and refer these cases to the Missouri Human Rights Commission.
