News Release

Date: 6/27/2008

Time: 11:00AM

Released by: Bruce E. Howey, Chief of Police

Information: We had a very successful blood drive yesterday at the Warrensburg Community Center with a total of 102 people coming by to donate. Donors were waiting to donate before the blood center staff had their equipment set up in the morning. There was a full house with 7 beds continuously going until 4:45 pm with donors all the way until the 6:00pm closing time. A total of 83 units of blood were collected...a new WPD sponsored event record. Our appreciation is extended to all who participated.

The Police Department won the Battle of the Badges competition with the Fire Department. We will be proudly displaying the traveling trophy when it arrives from the Community Blood Center.

WPD Community Policing Coordinator Tom Carey organized and oversaw this successful event.

Our next blood drive will be on 09-09-08 at the Community Center to honor our fallen comrades and the other heroes of 9-11. The last blood drive for the year will be on 12-01-08, to honor the Greatest Generation--the Generation that Saved the World. Please mark these dates on your calendars and come and donate blood with us. It truly is a gift of life.
