The Investigations Division consists of Lieutenant Randy Eich who supervises three additional full-time detectives. The primary duty of Investigations Division is to investigate all felony cases and some of the serious misdemeanor cases occurring within the City of Warrensburg. These include cases of robbery, arson, rape, child abuse, forgery, homicide, narcotics and felony stealing. The Investigations Division is also responsible for processing crime scenes, collecting evidence, executing search warrants, maintaining the evidence room, submission of evidence to the crime lab and processing and submission of fingerprint cards to the FBI and Missouri State Highway Patrol criminal records divisions. The Investigations Division interacts with many outside law enforcement agencies including the FBI, Secret Service, ATF, DEA, Customs and OSI. Members of the Investigations Division participate regularly with the Missouri Rural Crime Squad investigating serious crimes in this region. Lieutenant Eich is on the board of directors of the West Central Missouri Drug Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional drug task force covering eight counties. The latest technology is utilized by the Investigations Division. Recently, a computerized voice stress analyzer was purchased by the Department. This supplements the polygraph which has been used for many years to assist in determining if truthful answers are being given during an investigation. Both instruments are also used for screening of new applicants for police officer positions. A new computerized digital mug shot system was added with the implementation of a new computer records system. This also allows for transmittal of mug shots via the internet to other law enforcement agencies. Slated for the near future is a computerized evidence room management system. |
