Warrensburg Bicycling Club

The Warrensburg Bicycle Club (WBC) Mission:
- To have fun cycling
- To enjoy improved physical fitness
- To share resources and information about cycling
- To advocate for cycling interests whenever possible
Warrensburg Bicycle Club is sponsored by the
Warrensburg Park and Recreation Department
- When registration is requested, participants may sign up for events using the program number at P & R 660-747-7178 (48 hours in advance, please)
- Membership is open to all cyclists of all abilities and interests
- Events and rides are held April through October
- AN APPROVED CYCLING HELMET IS REQUIRED TO BE WORN WHILE CYCLING AT ALL WBC EVENTS
- Riders sixteen and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult while cycling at WBC events
- A club calendar is prepared in March and may be obtained at the Warrensburg Community Center
- The Warrensburg Bicycle Club is a member of MO Bike Federation, an advocacy organization
- A donation of $5.00 per household is requested at the first event of the year. This entitles members to e-mail notices and all WBC mailings.
SHOW AND GO RIDES
Meet at the Freeride Bike Shop at 6:15 pm on the following evenings and RIDE:
Monday, 6:15 pm, usually a trail ride on mountain bikes
Tuesday, 6:15 pm, usually a road ride
Thursday, 6:15 pm, usually a road ride
* Family members of cyclists are welcomed at all club events.
* Participation at gatherings is welcomed and encouraged for members and their families whether or not they are available to cycle a particular event.

Sunday, June 6th
Program 3509 -- Baugh Bash Ride
– Assemble at the home of Harold and Marilyn Baugh, 190 NW 221 Road, Clinton, MO. This ride is a circuitous route in Henry County. If you do the whole ride to Sparrowfoot it is a 40 miles round trip, but it is an out and back, so you can turn around at any point. A potluck dinner will follow at the Baugh home at 6:00 pm. Home made ice cream and a main course will be provided. When you start your ride will depend on how far you plan to go. For info call Marilyn Baugh at 660-885-6263.
Sunday, July 25th
Program 3510 -- Winery Ride
– Assemble at the Warrensburg Community Center at 2:00 pm for a 15 mile ride to a winery on Bristle Ridge. Paved roads, very little traffic. For info call BJ Curtis at 747-7750.
Monday, August 9th(Updated 7 July 2010)
Program 3708 – Club Meeting – The program will be Mr. Keith Petersen, Superintendent of Knob Noster State Park, speaking on maintenance activities of their portion of the KATY Trail, and on the KATY Trail Volunteer Program. Darlene is the only club person that I know of that is currently participating in the volunteer program.
Saturday, August 21st
Program 3767– Windsor Ride
– Assemble at the home of Bob and Mary Brigham at 229 SE 581 Road at 8:00 am. This is a 40 mile hilly route on paved roads, to Windsor and back. Good training ride for the MS-150!! A potluck lunch at the home of Bob and Mary Brigham will follow.
Monday, September 5th
Program 3768– Labor Day Ride
– Assemble at the Clinton trailhead on the KATY Trail at 2:00 pm and do an out-and-back ride of whatever length you choose. Gather for dinner at the Pizza Glen in Clinton at 5:00 pm. For info call Dawn Keenan at 660-653-4355.
Sunday, September 26th
– Not a Parks Dept. program, but an announcement. Midwest Fat Tire Series – This is the last race of the season and will be held on the Possum Hollow Trail in Knob Noster State Park. The website for more info is: http://www.midwestfattireseries.com/
Saturday & Sunday, September 25-26th
– MS-150 Ride Kansas City-Sedalia. We have had enough sign up to have a team in the past. Will we have enough this year?
Sunday, October 17th
Program 3769– KATY Color Ride
– Assemble at the KATY Depot in Sedalia at 1:30 pm. Enjoy the Fall colors on this fun out-and-back ride on the KATY. Riders will dine at the Kehde Barbeque on S. Highway 65 in Sedalia after the ride.
