Story Book Trail
Warrensburg Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the next Story Book Trail will be September 6-12! The September Trail will be at Blind Boone Park. Families will enjoy reading, exercising and family time all in one! This is a great FUN FREE event for everyone to enjoy! As you walk/run the trail, you can stop at each frame to find out what happens next. Make sure you don’t miss out!

WPR and 98.5 The Bar Triathlon Results
Warrensburg Parks & Recreation held the WPR & 98.5 The Bar Triathlon on August 7, 2010. 50 athletes participated in the triathlon. The top three female winners were: Kristie Wells 1:00.58; Heather Sells 1.03.51; and Stacey Morgan 1:08.52. The top three male winners were Nathan Johnson 0:48.57, Alec Morrison 0:51.45 and Christopher Smith 0:56.08. WPR Sports Academy
Join WPR for this fun after-school program! WPR is offering Sports Academy for Grades 4-5 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45 pm- 4:45 pm. This fun program will give children an opportunity to play a different sport every week and have fun after-school! The monthly program will be held each month during the school year. The September session will begin September 1 and end on September 29. The fee per month is $12.00.

Karate Classes Offered
The Warrensburg Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for upcoming sessions of Karate. WPR offers Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Youth; Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Adult and Shotokan Karate.
Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Youth and Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Adult will focus on self-defense, self-respect, and physical fitness. Testing fees and gis are an additional cost. These are ongoing monthly classes. Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Youth is open to ages 5 -15 years. Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Youth sessions are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Adult sessions are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The Fall/Winter session dates for Ryukyu Kempo Karate-Youth and Adult are as follows: 9/2-9/30, 10/5-10/28, 11/2-11/30, 12/2-12/30, 1/4 -1/27, and 2/1-2/24.
Shotokan Karate will focus on the basic study of the Shotokan Karate. It is a traditional style of martial arts from Japan. The class will emphasize self-defense and conditioning. Students will need to wear workout clothing to all classes. Once a student has achieved 1st rank, he or she will be expected to purchase a uniform at an additional cost. Shotokan Karate sessions are held on Mondays from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Fall/Winter session dates are as follows: 9/13-9/27, 10/4-10/25, 11/1-11/29, 12/6-12/27, 1/3-1/31, and 2/7-2/28.
Fee per session for Ryukyu Kempo-Youth and Shotokan Karate is $32.00. Fee per session for Ryukyu Kemp Karate-Adult is $34.00. The WPR Youth Scholarship FUNd is available for financial assistance for Johnson County youth. Summer Adult Softball Leagues
The Warrensburg Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for Fall Adult Softball Leagues. There are four Fall Leagues offered by WPR: Coed on Tuesday nights; Coed on Thursday nights; Men’s Open on Monday nights; and Men’s Recreational on Friday nights. The leagues are double header format. Game times are 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. All leagues will play 10 games. The games start the week September 13, 2010. Captain packets will be available for pick up on September 8 after 5:00 pm. The Early Bird Fee is $275 if registered by August 25. Fee if registered August 25-September 5 is $325. WPR & Johnson County United Way Softball Tournament
Warrensburg Parks and Recreation and Johnson County United Way are teaming up to help all of the Johnson County United Way agencies. They are hosting a recreational adult softball tournament on October 2, 2010 at Cave Hollow Park. The team fee for this recreational tournament is $150.00. Have fun and support Johnson County United Way!! There is a 3 game guarantee and a home run derby! The United Way campaign will end in November, the need for funds never ends. Donations are welcome at any time and may be designated to specific agencies. Checks can be sent to the Johnson County United Way, P.O. Box 203, Warrensburg, MO 64093-0203.
Instructional Soccer
The Warrensburg Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the following Instructional Soccer Programs:
Start Smart Soccer is for ages 3-4. Start Smart Soccer is a hour-long parent interactive program, meaning the parent/guardian is required to be in the program with the child. Sessions are available on Mondays starting at 5:30 pm. The session will begin September 13-October 18 at the West Park Soccer Complex. Early Bird Fee is $35.00 if registered by August 26. Fee is $45.00 if register August 26-September 6.
Lil Kickers is for ages 5-6. Players will learn basic soccer skills and participate in practices of each session and will play scrimmage games. Sessions are held at West Park Soccer Complex on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The program dates are September 16-October 21. Early Bird Fee is $35.00 if registered by August 26. Fee is $45.00 if register August 26-September 6.
Super Kickers is for 1st graders. Sessions are held at West Park Soccer Complex on Tuesdays from 5:30 pm. starting September 14-October 19. Early Bird Fee is $35.00 if registered by August 26. Fee is $45.00 if register August 26-September 6.

Adult Volleyball
The Warrensburg Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for Fall Adult Volleyball Leagues. Warrensburg Parks & Recreation offers two divisions; Coed and Women’s. The games will be held on Sundays starting September 19 through November 14 . Each league consists of 6 regular season games. All games will be a 6 on 6 play. The league champions will receive team t-shirts or trophy. All games will be held at the Warrensburg Community Center. Early Bird Registration fee is $125 per team if registered by September 2. Fee is $155 if registered September 2-12. Registration deadline is September 12, 2010.

Youth Coed Volleyball League
The Warrensburg Parks & Recreation Department is accepting registrations for Youth Coed Volleyball League. Athletes will sign up individually and will be placed onto a team. League is open to all area 4th-6th graders. The league will run August 23-November 15. Practice and game times will vary. Games may be against Centerview, Grain Valley, Sedalia, Windsor, La Monte, Cole Camp, Lincoln and Green Ridge. This is a traveling league. Registration deadline is August 20, 2010. Early Bird Fee is $40 if registered by August 10; $50 if registered August 10-20. WPR Youth Scholarship is available.

Celebrate the beginning of a new school year with WPR! August 27, 2010, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Learn to Swim Lessons
Warrensburg Parks & Recreation announces the second session of summer Learn to Swim sessions start June 28. WPR offers Water Babies, Preschool Swim Academy and Levels 1-6. Each level has different learning objectives. All lessons are held Monday-Thursday at the Nassif Aquatic Center. More information on the different levels can be found in the Burg’ or online at www.warrensburg-mo.com. Fee for each level is $40 if registered by noon the Wednesday prior to the session. Birthday Party Packages at Nassif
Warrensburg Parks & Recreation announces Birthday Party Packages available at Nassif Aquatic Center starting May 29!! The birthday party package includes the following: 15 guests, 1.5 hours at private shaded cabana, t-shirt for the birthday child, postcard invites, ice cream treats, punch or lemonade, paper goods, party host to help set up and clean up, and of course, admission to Nassif Aquatic Center! Birthday child and 2 adults are included in the party for free; each extra guest will be $6.00. Additional party items are available. Parties must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance and payment is due in full at the time of reservation. Don’t forget Nassif opens May 29 at 1:00 pm.

There is no instructor so you choose your pace. No pre-registration required. Fee is $4.00 or use your Wet ‘N Sweat Pass- Punch Pass: $50 for 20 Classes or Monthly Unlimited Access- $30.00. Schedule is Tuesday and Thursday: 7:00 am-8:30 am; Monday-Thursday: 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. Hours are subject to change.

Water Waddlers
Warrensburg Parks and Recreation is offering a fun morning program at Nassif Aquatic Center. This program is designed for children, ages 6 and under, accompanied by a parent/guardian who is able to remain in the water with the child. Parents must supervise their children during this program. Parents/guardians get in free and registration fee is per child. Please note this is not open swim time and pre-registration is required. Cool Pool Parties at Nassif
Warrensburg Parks and Recreation is taking reservations for Cool Pool Parties at Nassif Aquatic Center. Nassif Aquatic Center opens May 29. Exclusive use of the aquatic center is made after normal hours, 1:00 pm-7:00 pm. Reservations must be made a minimum of two weeks in advance. Prices are per hour: Entire Facility-$350; Lap Pool Only-$125; Lap Pool w/Slide and Diving Board-$165; and Spray Ground Only-$145. Concession Stand will be open. Make sure your party makes a SPLASH!! Make your reservation TODAY!! Don’t forget Nassif opens May 29 at 1:00 pm.
