On the Edge
The City of Warrensburg wants to remind everyone to keep the areas adjacent to streets, alleys, and sidewalks mowed, trimmed, clean and maintained.
Code Enforcement Inspector Ray Almaguer encourages “people to think of these areas as integral parts of their property that can be made to look nice, neat, and workable.”
Property owners are encouraged to mow and trim grass next to the alley way just as they would the area next to the street in the front of their house. Maintained alleys are safer for drivers and residents when they are obstacle free and create a better environment for the community.
Potential nuisance concerns along the alley include the following: -Tall grass, weeds and overgrown brush -Old furniture, mattresses, broken glass, cans, containers, appliances, tires, leaves, metal objects, accumulations of material etc.
Sidewalks should be trimmed of low-hanging tree limbs and unobstructed of tall weeds and grass.
Backyards should be mowed and kept clean. Just like the front yard it should be free of accumulations of junk and materials.
Citizens can file a nuisance complaint with the City of Warrensburg by calling (660) 747-9135 between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please have the address of the property and a brief description of the violation ready for the Permit Clerk answering the phone. Callers can remain anonymous if they wish. If a citizen has a question as to whether a code violation exists, please call and ask to speak to Code Enforcement Inspector, Ray Almaguer
