The purpose of the Planning Division is to ensure
that new development is consistent with the City's long-term goals and objectives, that
the proposed land uses are in the best interest of the overall development of the
community, and that development meets the minimum subdivision requirements.
The work of the Planning division is performed by
the City Planner who reviews site plans and subdivision plats for compliance with the City
Code, works on revisions to the City's comprehensive plan, zoning ordinances, and works
with the City's Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
The City Planner also works with developers and
builders before actual physical development begins to ensure that the proposed development
will meet City requirements.
